TOOLS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We've Been There

All of our products are designed out of experience, not in a lab. Alon and his family have walked in your shoes, literally! We are deeply familiar with what you need when you're recovering from a stroke.

Better Together

AlonTree equipment is modular in its design. You can combine elements to get just the support you need. Or combine several pieces of equipment to add interest and enhance your workout.

Affordable

Our low-tech approach means you get affordable and effective equipment. We strive to fill the gap in recovery left by the limits of insurance, Medicare payouts, and out-of-pocket expenses for rehabilitation.

Sustainable

We are dedicated to building a company that's good for our community and for our environment. Sustainability is an important factor in our selection of materials and partners. As we scale up, we'll be looking for even more ways to source responsibly.

Meet Alon

In Hebrew, Alon means "oak." Indeed, Alon Kaplan is a force of nature.

More than a decade ago, he had a massive stroke, which left him in a vegetative state. With rehabilitation equipment of his own design, he taught himself to walk, talk, and live a full life again. He founded AlonTree to share his designs with the world.

Consider the Possible

Alon and his team create equipment with neuroplasticity in mind. Healthy brain tissue can be taught to do the things once controlled by damaged brain cells.

The brain and the body can heal themselves given the right encouragement, the right exercise, and the right equipment.

Work & Play

Our equipment is designed to be fun and functional. Rehabilitation is hard work, but it doesn't always have to be grueling. Who says work can't be fun?

The artists on our design team know comfort, beauty, and playfulness are key to creating products you'll enjoy using for your stroke recovery.

By Alon Kaplan | 7:42 pm |

Sept 21, 2014:   Today, I hesitate before I climb my stairs to go to the bathroom because not long before, I used to be a crippler, and I used to be scared of the staircase wearing my brace and my shoes.  Now, I pump out my barefoot going up the stairs and not touching my…

Twenty Years Before I Discovered my Aphasia, I researched an Essay on Global Aphasia

By Alon Kaplan | 1:56 pm |

On December 8, 2008, I was unconscious.  I lay there in the ICU in a medical coma.  The brain surgeon was completely exhausted  He wept to my parents, “He had a fist-sized blood clot in his left hemisphere of his brain.  What we’re seeing is a catastrophic massive stroke”.   He was carefully pointing out that…

Why I Was ‘Reborn’ to Be in Right Now

By Alon Kaplan | 4:07 pm |

When I was barely twelve, in 1980, I gotten into an argument with my friend about cruise missiles. My friend refused to say that the Pentagon had these cruise missiles. But, I was reading it in my library’s book!  “I will show you!” I huffed-and-puffed at my commie friend.  (My friend was in love with USSR).…

The four fatalities of my adult life

By Alon Kaplan | 5:27 pm |

My ex-wife divorced me one year after my stroke, took away my children, and my livelihood.  My massive stroke took away the use of the right side of my body, and I was mute. Experiencing just one of the above events would have melted the pre-stroke Alon into an anxious numb entity. What’s changed?  I…

Jewish sarcasm

By Alon Kaplan | 11:32 am |

During the flood of New Orlean, waters crept up and ruined the foundation of the houses of the parish. An old man sat on his roof to avoid the sewage of the water. A firefighter standing in the muck called to him, “Can I help you?” “No,” said the old man, “God will help me”.…
