TOOLS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
In Hebrew, Alon means "oak." Indeed, Alon Kaplan is a force of nature.
More than a decade ago, he had a massive stroke, which left him in a vegetative state. With rehabilitation equipment of his own design, he taught himself to walk, talk, and live a full life again. He founded AlonTree to share his designs with the world.
Consider the Possible
Alon and his team create equipment with neuroplasticity in mind. Healthy brain tissue can be taught to do the things once controlled by damaged brain cells.
The brain and the body can heal themselves given the right encouragement, the right exercise, and the right equipment.
Work & Play
Our equipment is designed to be fun and functional. Rehabilitation is hard work, but it doesn't always have to be grueling. Who says work can't be fun?
The artists on our design team know comfort, beauty, and playfulness are key to creating products you'll enjoy using for your stroke recovery.
Rehabilitation Equipment for Stroke Injury by Stroke People
"Exercising with our products has made me feel powerful, muscular, and agile. The entire right side of my body was almost useless. Now, I dance, horseback ride, hike, and shake people's hands."
-Founder Alon Kaplan

STORIES FROM A STROKE WARRIOR
Karma is the law of cause and effect by which each individual creates his own destiny by his thoughts, words, and deeds. Before my stroke, I had a holier-than-thou attitude regarding my religion, physical strength, and intellectual prowess. However, as I laid in my hospital bed I realized my blood clot had stripped me of everything,…
A Lil’ Bit of Scars, Unconscious & Boo-Boo
[ARTHUR chops the BLACK KNIGHT’s left arm off] ARTHUR: Now stand aside, worthy adversary. BLACK KNIGHT: ‘Tis but a scratch. ARTHUR: A scratch? Your arm’s off! BLACK KNIGHT: No, it isn’t. ARTHUR: Well, what’s that then? BLACK KNIGHT: I’ve had worse. I have a lot of scars. My first one, I was two years ago.…

My Triumphant Trip to Thailand
Nearly 6 1/2 years ago, I was in a catastrophic massive stroke. Stuck in a medical coma, I didn’t know where I existed. Now, look: I am a Stroke Hero. I even know where my flight tickets, my core is handing my backpack & I’m fluent in non-verbal communications (traveling through Thailand you have to…
Why Are You Still Alone?
The young Taiwanese woman beside me on the flight home wanted to ask me a question, “Why are you still alone?” It appears that the Taiwanese woman had a bunch of compatriots henpeck in the aisles of Eva Air. Another gracious Thai masseur asked me that same question. I don’t know. My ex-wife took my…
Why I Was ‘Reborn’ to Be in Right Now
When I was barely twelve, in 1980, I gotten into an argument with my friend about cruise missiles. My friend refused to say that the Pentagon had these cruise missiles. But, I was reading it in my library’s book! “I will show you!” I huffed-and-puffed at my commie friend. (My friend was in love with USSR).…
Two Months Before I Slipped Into a Coma
In October, 2008, about two months before my coma, I wrote this letter to my old friend. I looked at your photos… you look so happy! Your eyes are on fire. It brought me back to the time you took me to dinner in Boston for my birthday and we spoke about me becoming…
How I came to love my damaged brain: The ancient stroke story and a newly-improved ancient stroke story.
Could things have turned out differently? Perhaps. Normally, the brain surgeons would have had “the Merci Retrieval System an FDA-cleared device for restoring blood flow in the neurovasculature by removing blood clots in patients experiencing ischemic stroke”. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2TNz-TniIA). Or, if after the car accident, I would have gone to the ER and complained about my…

Enter My Childhood Basement
When I was eight, I’d stand in my basement peering up at the decade calendar which clung to the storage door. I’d calculate the time when I would be a real grown-up. Then, I would stop at 2008. My parents said to me, as a young child, “You better be settled with your life at…
AlonTree Products Amplify Your Natural Ability to Use Your Weakened Muscles
Our AlonTree products amplify your natural ability to use your weakened muscles. Even if it has been some time since you tried engaging your atrophied muscles you can begin to strengthen them. Stroke is a Terrorist Act to Destroy Your Brain
Your brain is a command center issuing commands to the army (your body). Some terrorist blew out one room, maybe, three rooms with a grenade. Imagine, “some terrorist” is the blood clot. The “grenade” is the damage done by the blood clot to your host of your neuron cells. No one has the answers to…
Do you know what the hardest word to say for me is? Silk. First, my tongue draws back to the ‘Eeessss’ then, slides across the mouth and double loop-de-loop to say, ‘eeeee’. Then rounds it up around the palate and ‘laaaa’ and drop down to say, ‘ka’. Confusion reigns in my brain and…
What is ‘neuroplasticity’? And how can I get some? What is the relationship between my neuroplasticity and stroke? First of all, you need to learn about neurons to make the connection between your neuroplasticity and stroke. A neuron “is an electrically excitable cell that processes and transmits information to other neurons through electrical and chemical…
