TOOLS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We've Been There

All of our products are designed out of experience, not in a lab. Alon and his family have walked in your shoes, literally! We are deeply familiar with what you need when you're recovering from a stroke.

Better Together

AlonTree equipment is modular in its design. You can combine elements to get just the support you need. Or combine several pieces of equipment to add interest and enhance your workout.

Affordable

Our simple technology approach means you get affordable and effective equipment. We strive to fill the gap in recovery left by the limits of insurance, Medicare payouts, and out-of-pocket expenses for rehabilitation.

Sustainable

We are dedicated to building a company that's good for our community and for our environment. Sustainability is an important factor in our selection of materials and partners. As we scale up, we'll be looking for even more ways to source responsibly.

Once a survivor.   Now a warrior.

“Wearing the AlonTwig helps reduce the spastic reaction in my hand. I estimate a 50% reduction in the spastic reflex.”
Art Jensen - Vista, CA
“Wearing the splint feels great and awesome when it’s on. It makes me feel like I have more control over my arm and it supports my movement. I like it a LOT!!”
Amanda Levesque - Asheville, NC
“When she has worn it for 5-6 hours her skin integrity is good. There is no redness or soreness. She also reports that her arm feels much more relaxed for days.”
Lynda Letourneau, Occupational Therapist R/L
“I love my AlonGlove. It’s the most comfortable splint ever."
Art Jensen - Vista, CA

rehabilitation devices & equipment for brain injuries by a Stroke Warrior

Meet Alon

In Hebrew, Alon means "oak." Indeed, Alon Kaplan is a force of nature.

More than a decade ago, he had a massive stroke, which left him in a vegetative state. With rehabilitation equipment of his own design, he taught himself to walk, talk, and live a full life again. He founded AlonTree to share his designs with the world.

Consider the Possible

Alon and his team create equipment with neuroplasticity in mind. Healthy brain tissue can be taught to do the things once controlled by damaged brain cells.

The brain and the body can heal themselves given the right encouragement, the right exercise, and the right equipment.

Work & Play

Our equipment is designed to be fun and functional. Rehabilitation is hard work, but it doesn't always have to be grueling. Who says work can't be fun?

The artists on our design team know comfort, beauty, and playfulness are key to creating products you'll enjoy using for your stroke recovery.

STORIES FROM A STROKE WARRIOR

How I came to love my damaged brain

By Alon Kaplan | 4:01 pm | 0 Comments

My pre-Stroke tragedy On a Thursday afternoon, August 14 2008, a young woman on hercellphone ran a stop sign and smashed her blue car into the driver’sside of my white minivan. My three daughters were secured in their carseats in the back. All that I had to secure me during the crash was afaulty seat…

Tell that to the Stroke Warrior…

Overcoming aphasia is difficult but possible. Alon stepped up on stage this week to tell his story and pitch his startup business at One Million Cups of Coffee. Three years ago, I could talk by only using broken phrases.

My Left Side Scalp

The ER doctor and nurses were good to me. The brain surgeons were good to have after my brain injury. The ICU nurses were good. The rehabilitation center therapists were good. But, the doctors were terrible to me. What a nightmare! The rehabilitation center nurses were awful to me. They would barged in at night…

Jumping Far

Sept 21, 2014:   Today, I hesitate before I climb my stairs to go to the bathroom because not long before, I used to be a crippler, and I used to be scared of the staircase wearing my brace and my shoes.  Now, I pump out my barefoot going up the stairs and not touching my…

My sweet spot

By Alon Kaplan | 2:52 pm | 0 Comments

My tango teachers, Eric and Cassie, taught me to understand the subtle “sense” of kinesthesia. Kinesthesia is the sense that detects bodily position, weight, or movement of the muscles, tendons, and joints. This is what happens when my brain gets feedback about the way my body is moving and the way my dance partner’s body…

Me Then (2006) & Me Now (2016)

By Alon Kaplan | 1:45 pm | 0 Comments

I feel overwhelmed by disparate chores/time management issues. I have been ending the day with a yucky feeling at the end of the day that my head is full of loose ends, that I didn’t get anything accomplished. I am assigning emotions to non-emotional subjects due to stress/exhaustion. I am starting to resent certain obligations.…

My Right Hand is Higher Than Before!

By Alon Kaplan | 6:59 pm | 0 Comments

Initially, my hand was numb.   Now, I hold my right hand in a yoga standing warrior pose higher everyday.  Yesterday was Nov 11, 2014, my right hand was reaching higher than my golding locks of my beautifully hair.  My hand was pole straight.  Before, say August 2013, I understood that my left hand was…

Why Are You Still Alone?

By Alon Kaplan | 6:47 pm | 0 Comments

The young Taiwanese woman beside me on the flight home wanted to ask me a question, “Why are you still alone?”  It appears that the Taiwanese woman had a bunch of compatriots henpeck in the aisles of Eva Air.  Another gracious Thai masseur asked me that same question.  I don’t know.  My ex-wife took my…

Being here

I have been on an epic rollercoaster, known as my life. Let me delved into a Zen Buddhist koan about a person walking through the jungle and he see a ferocious tiger bounding after the man. Suddenly, he trip and falls over the edge of the ravine. He grabs a root as he free-falls. There…

My paradise, vol 2

By Alon Kaplan | 6:08 pm | 0 Comments

Well, the teenager went off to California to road trip. My hippy friend was a over-grown angst teenager; He wanted to slacked-off. So, I decided that I want to wrestle with the Tennessee field stones, crushed-up gravels and a huge enormous bag of pebbles. In May 2020, I dragged cardboards out of my neighbor’s garden…

The Nurse and my Trip to a Hospital Toilet

By Alon Kaplan | 11:30 am | 0 Comments

I woke up and my bladder was telling my brain (in a broadly Scottish accent) that, “My bladder is coming apart! Mayday!” My consciousness was awake. My body and my thoughts calculated my trajectory towards my cane. Because it was hanging on the other end of the room, to get there I would have to…
