TOOLS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We've Been There

All of our products are designed out of experience, not in a lab. Alon and his family have walked in your shoes, literally! We are deeply familiar with what you need when you're recovering from a stroke.

Better Together

AlonTree equipment is modular in its design. You can combine elements to get just the support you need. Or combine several pieces of equipment to add interest and enhance your workout.

Affordable

Our simple technology approach means you get affordable and effective equipment. We strive to fill the gap in recovery left by the limits of insurance, Medicare payouts, and out-of-pocket expenses for rehabilitation.

Sustainable

We are dedicated to building a company that's good for our community and for our environment. Sustainability is an important factor in our selection of materials and partners. As we scale up, we'll be looking for even more ways to source responsibly.

Once a survivor.   Now a warrior.

“Wearing the AlonTwig helps reduce the spastic reaction in my hand. I estimate a 50% reduction in the spastic reflex.”
Art Jensen - Vista, CA
“Wearing the splint feels great and awesome when it’s on. It makes me feel like I have more control over my arm and it supports my movement. I like it a LOT!!”
Amanda Levesque - Asheville, NC
“When she has worn it for 5-6 hours her skin integrity is good. There is no redness or soreness. She also reports that her arm feels much more relaxed for days.”
Lynda Letourneau, Occupational Therapist R/L
“I love my AlonGlove. It’s the most comfortable splint ever."
Art Jensen - Vista, CA

rehabilitation devices & equipment for brain injuries by a Stroke Warrior

Meet Alon

In Hebrew, Alon means "oak." Indeed, Alon Kaplan is a force of nature.

More than a decade ago, he had a massive stroke, which left him in a vegetative state. With rehabilitation equipment of his own design, he taught himself to walk, talk, and live a full life again. He founded AlonTree to share his designs with the world.

Consider the Possible

Alon and his team create equipment with neuroplasticity in mind. Healthy brain tissue can be taught to do the things once controlled by damaged brain cells.

The brain and the body can heal themselves given the right encouragement, the right exercise, and the right equipment.

Work & Play

Our equipment is designed to be fun and functional. Rehabilitation is hard work, but it doesn't always have to be grueling. Who says work can't be fun?

The artists on our design team know comfort, beauty, and playfulness are key to creating products you'll enjoy using for your stroke recovery.

STORIES FROM A STROKE WARRIOR

Why I Was ‘Reborn’ to Be in Right Now

By Alon Kaplan | 4:07 pm | 0 Comments

When I was barely twelve, in 1980, I gotten into an argument with my friend about cruise missiles. My friend refused to say that the Pentagon had these cruise missiles. But, I was reading it in my library’s book!  “I will show you!” I huffed-and-puffed at my commie friend.  (My friend was in love with USSR).…

Asheville is the #8 best place to live: Please don’t move here. Asheville was recently cited on the Froddor Guide as the 8th best place in America to live (out of 331 municipalities.) The guide cited affordable housing, good public schools, natural beauty and a good location for e-commerce businesses. And yet, I urge you…

How to put on the AlonTwig

By Alon Kaplan | 7:05 pm | 0 Comments

You can put on the AlonTwig elbow brace by yourself quickly and easily.  The Twig is designed to be fully adjustable as it helps you manage tone (or spasticity) in your arm.  It helps you flex your tricep muscles by forcing your bicep muscles to lie low while it is worn. Start with the Twig…

Before and after my stroke

By Alon Kaplan | 11:18 pm | 2 Comments

Before I had the stroke, I cleaned, gardened, cooked, and did the laundry. I played with my daughters, nursed them back to health when they were sick, took them to school in the morning, and picked them up from school in the afternoon.  I was the “assistant director” for my daughters; always at my daughters’…

Fairy Stroke

By Alon Kaplan | 6:01 pm | 0 Comments

There is a very ancient and potent charm which may be tried with great effect in case of a suspected fairy-stroke. Place three rows of salt on a table in three lines, three equal measures to each row. The person performing the spell then encloses the rows of salt with his arm. He leans his…

Patience

By Alon Kaplan | 1:59 pm | 0 Comments

A Man stands in a boulder and scrub-grass strewn desert watching sheep. He is an unlikely shepherd; a tall, handsome Man of about thirty, obviously brought up in luxury and not used to this kind of life. The other shepherds his age, with their weather beaten faces and toothless grins, could easily pass for the…

The art of being broken

By Alon Kaplan | 12:57 pm | 0 Comments

Kintsukuroi (“golden mend”) is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery using lacquer resin laced with gold or silver. As well as a nifty form of repair, Kintsukuroi has a deeper philosophical significance. I have mended my body and my mind. Before my stroke, I was held captive by my crazy personas.  Post-stroke, I was puzzled…

Soul is like a Hand Playing with Light & Darkness

By Alon Kaplan | 6:57 pm | 0 Comments

Primo said in his book, “suffering is like a gas that you turn on in a small room or, a big room.”  Nope.  I don’t believe that.  I feel that my soul has lightness & darkness, joy & sad.   BUT, my soul has NOT changed a bit. It’s like my hand in front of…
